The following is a list of responsibilities of each of our Committee Chair positions:

ADMINISTRATIVE

 

   

Directory/Membership

Coordinates and updates the online directory, and collection of PTO membership dues. Can be done from home. Strong computer experience needed. Most of work completed early school year August-October

     
     

Homeroom Parent Coordinator

Responsible for selection of homeroom parents from a list of submitted names. After names are chosen, conduct a meeting at beginning of school year. HR parent coordinators work with PTO Exec. Board in August to arrange HR parent Mtg in September, and posting of HR Parent signup information. This position requires the committee chair involvement throughout the school year as chairs will be the liaison between Board and HR Parents.

 

Nominating

Responsible for soliciting nominations, preparing ballots and running the elections at designated PTO meetings (April and May). This job requires most of work to be done in March/April/May. Can be done from home with the exception of attendance at PTO Meetings.

 

Parliamentarian

1

Responsible for interpreting PTO bylaws and policies in conjunction with the Executive Board. Update Bylaws and Policy Manual as needed. Manages PTO activities using Roberts Rules or Order (most current edition) Must attend Executive Board meetings.

 

Donation/Sponsorship

The Donation Sponsorship chair is responsible for gathering donations from restaurants and businesses throughout the year for PTO functions. Ex. sponsors, food donations for events, student incentives, raffle items etc.  Must maintain spreadsheet of items received and where items are being held. Ensures that sponsors receive thank you cards and recognition in the PTO newsletter, website, etc. No in-school time required can be done from home on any schedule.

Organize event for MMW students. Decide, plan and coordinate all aspects of the event. Most work can be done from home.

MMW Student/Special Adult Sports Theme

Organize event for MMW students. Decide, plan and coordinate all aspects of the event. Most work can be done from home. 

 

MMW Student/Special Adult Sweetheart Dance

Organize event for MMW students. Decide, plan and coordinate all aspects of the event. Most work can be done from home. 

 

Fall Festival

Organize a family fall themed event in October. Decide, plan and coordinate all aspects of the event.

 

Family Bingo

Decide, plan and coordinate all aspects of event. Held in the fall. This is a family event.

 

Clothing Drive

Arrange, schedule, publicize and coordinate volunteers for event (fall & spring)

 

Pretzel Sale

Responsible for ordering pretzels for Pretzel Wednesday sales. Coordinate volunteers to help pack and deliver pretzels each week. This position requires coordinators to be in school weekly throughout the school year.

 

 

 

Secret Shop

Coordinate and oversee student holiday shop. Arrange for volunteers to work the shop. Held in late November/early December. This committee requires at least one chair to be in school throughout the duration of the sale.

 

Restaurant Nights Coordinator

Coordinate, organize and advertise restaurant family nights throughout the school year. Keep up to date calendar of each.

 

 

MISCELLANEOUS

 

Gardening

1

Organize the enhancement of school landscaping and flower beds, with student participation (gardening club). Gardens to be maintained are in the around the school, refresh planters outside of school as well as flower beds across the front of the school. Coordinate volunteers to help with gardening projects throughout the year. This position requires time spent at school throughout the year to work on flower planters.

 

Running Club

Organize and oversee a running club for students in the spring.  Coordinate adult volunteers.

 

 

 

Student Store

2

Purchasing, accounting for and setting up items for sale in the school store. Recruit volunteers to run the store each morning. This committee will require time in school each week to open/close/stock store and make deposits.

 

Welcoming

Provide support, information and directions to new MMW families. Prepare welcome packets including folder and t-shirt. 
Yearbook Coordinator  2 Collect photos, edit, publish and sell the MMW Yearbook.  This is a year round position, ending with the distribution of yearbooks. Computer experience needed.

 

Memorial Day BBQ

Work with principal to pick a date for student lunchtime picnic. Liaise with Chartwells to have students order picnic food, provide decorations, organize tables and provide volunteer support to cook burgers and hot dogs. Coordinate with PTO leadership to provide frozen novelties, if desired. 

 

Fundraising Committee  2

If PTO needs to raise money in a given year, coordinate with PTO leadership to select and execute a fundraising campaign.

 

School Sign  1 House the full box of lettering for the school sign. Work with PTO leadership to determine sign messaging and update sign as needed.
     

5th/6th Grade Musical 

 

 2

Contract with outsourced theater production company who will run the actual production. Select the production and purchase the play kit and provide volunteer support to the Director. Form parent volunteer committees to help with sets, playbills, cast shirts, ticket sales and refreshment sales.

 

Trenton Thunder/Welch Singers

 

 1

Coordinate with music teacher and Trenton Thunder contact to determine a date for singers to perform at game. Advertise ticket sales and coordinate ticket distribution to all interested Welch families.

     
1st Day School Supplies

 

 1 Liaise with MMW staff to update grade level school supplies. Coordinate with supply company to market the school supply kits to families. Arrange volunteers to distribute kits to classrooms in August. 
     

Teacher Supplies/Costco 

 

 1

 

 

 

Work with Teacher Liaison to determine quantities needed by each teacher and/or grade level (paper towels, tissues and wipes). Coordinate purchasing and pick-up of supplies. Recruit volunteers to distribute supplies to teacher rooms in August.

 

 Spring Fair  2 Arrange a family fun event, provide games, activities, prizes, food, manage ticket sales, and recruit volunteers.
